Focus is on GI permeability to transform management of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases

CLINICAL PROGRAM
First in-human clinical studies are underway to establish the feasibility of fluorescent tracer agent-based systems to quantify the permeability of the gastrointestinal tract in patients with active Crohn’s Disease.*

GI PUBLICATIONS
MediBeacon gut permeability research is being completed in collaboration with researchers at the Mayo Clinic and at Washington University in St. Louis. Results of initial preclinical invivo work has been presented at Digestive Disease Week and published in the online Nature Publication – Scientific Reports.

Increased intestinal permeability is implicated in autoimmune diseases. Examples include Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), celiac disease, and type 1 diabetes, all of which are characterized by abnormal intestinal permeability.
